Clarios awarded for sustainability practice
Clarios has received the “We are there” award from The Lower Saxony Alliance for Sustainability, located in Hannover, Germany. The Lower Saxony's Environment Minister, Olaf Lies, presented the award during a ceremony, held at the Clarios Hannover Headquarters on March 2. The award recognizes companies implementing long-term, concrete measures that promote more sustainable practices within their business.
"Clarios has introduced numerous certified management systems that ensure ecological, social and economic sustainability," emphasized Minister Lies. "By living these systems on a daily basis and going beyond what is required, Clarios has earned the current label for sustainable corporate management. Among other things, Clarios is certified in the areas of material and energy efficiency, health management and occupational safety, as well as service quality and environmental protection."
Clarios batteries are the driving force behind fuel-saving, and thus environmentally friendly developments by vehicle manufacturers. Eight out of ten new vehicles are equipped with start-stop batteries from Clarios. In addition, Clarios batteries with PowerFrame technology are manufactured with up to 20 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than conventional rechargeable batteries. And together with customers and partners, the company has developed a global collection system that enables closed-loop recycling. As a result, up to 99 percent of the materials used in Europe can be recovered and reused in new batteries.
At its European headquarters in Hannover, Clarios employs 1,300 people, more than 40 of them solely focused on training. In addition to production and administration, the European research and development department tean is also located in on-site.
The Lower Saxony Alliance for Sustainability, founded in 2016, is a cooperation between the state government, business associations, trade unions and chambers. Its aim is to promote the sustainable development of Lower Saxony's companies.
