How One Clarios Manager in EMEA Ran 40K to Prove Sustainability Matters
November was Sustainability Month at Clarios EMEA—teams across 13 plants, four sales offices, and our headquarters took on the challenge to show how “The Little Big Things” can create a massive collective impact. Together, we championed recycling, tree-planting, car-free days, and more to prove that when everyone pitches in, every action counts.
A United Effort Across EMEA
Throughout the month, employees from every corner of EMEA embraced sustainability. From pledging to reduce energy consumption to getting creative with waste management, each site brought its own ideas to the table:
- Krautscheid Recycling Plant
Earned their sustainability goals two weeks early, prompting Plant Manager Igor to celebrate by running 40 kilometers to work—despite pouring rain. - Ceska Lipa Battery Plant
Aligned social responsibility with environmental efforts by raising funds for employees’ children with disabilities while hitting green milestones. - Madrid Office
Hosted reforestation workshops, introduced reusable cups, and sparked a wave of eco-friendly suggestions on their “Sustainability Ideas Blackboard.” - Zwickau
Helped stop energy waste with the “Energy Hunters” program and organized a plant clean-up plus waste-segregation workshops. - Hannover HQ and Plant
Helped clean up the local area, promoted ways to reduce food waste, and supported local charities through fun, hands-on activities. - Sarreguemines
Built birdhouses, introduced reusable cups, improved waste sorting, and upgraded equipment to save energy. - Family-Friendly Involvement
Employees’ children joined in by crafting artwork from recycled materials, transforming education into an eco-friendly adventure.
Driving Sustainability Beyond November
Clarios EMEA’s commitment to sustainability extends well beyond a single month—our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy guides us every day. From local grassroots efforts like the “Donate Your Cent” program, which helps employees support community projects, to global partnerships with UNICEF through the Clarios Foundation, we’re making a tangible impact around the world.
To underscore the importance of education and collaboration, we hosted a Sustainability Townhall to share progress on our initiatives and an EMEA-wide Circular Economy Townhall that highlighted the critical role of recycling and resource efficiency in a greener future.
Leadership in Action
Leaders at Clarios took an active part, demonstrating that sustainability starts at the top. Whether cycling to work, hosting barbecues, or cheering on employee milestones, they showed that each step—no matter how small—adds up to big, lasting change. One shining example was Igor’s triumphant 40-kilometer run to celebrate Krautscheid’s success. Watch his inspiring video below.
